Every third Saturday of the month the Loft Cinema, located in Tucson, Arizona, has a midnight showing of the 1975 musical cult-classic, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. And while the leather and fishnets will undoubtedly be on hand this Saturday as it is each month, The Loft Cinema has chosen this month to launch their poster series in collaboration with the Poster Collective, a great site that covers movie posters. The poster by Joshua Budich is a four color screen print, hand-numbered edition of 100.
I love the small detail of this poster. The red accent throughout is great, but maybe my favorite part of the print is the lyric, “It’s just a jump to the left” of Time Warp, illustrated on either side of Picture Show.
Budich’s past works clearly inspired this print, many of which are character portraits or collages. Below are some examples of his work which I enjoyed. His take on “Reservoir Dogs” is the closest of his work resembling “The Rocky Horror Show”. The Big Lebowski and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off are two of my favorite movies, so I couldn’t help but include the rest. The three print set of Big Lebowski posters are outstanding.
